History of Oahu
Oahu Island Hawaii
Oahu was the last island conquered by Kamehameha the Great in 1795. Kamehameha and his fleet of canoes landed on the beaches of Waikiki and went into battle with the Oahu warriors of Kalanikupule, the King of Oahu.
Oahu was also one of the first islands sighted by the crew of HMS Resolution on the 18th January 1778.
However, one of the most famous events occurred much later and forms part of our own modern history. That event was the attack on Pearl Harbour by the Japanese on December 7th 1941.
